February 2024 began with an unusual call to schedule a private event. Within 24 hours we were meeting and taking a picture with the President of the United States. During that 24 hours, we had Secret Service, Warren SWAT, White House Staff, and the Press Pool at our family restaurant. We've gone thru a lot in our first 5 years, but this will certainly be the most memorable.
President Biden thanked Aubrey and Deven for hosting and preparing the meals, and Emerson and Everett got Presidential M&Ms (red, white and blue of course) and a stuffed dog Commander (the presidents dog).
Had the great opportunity to talk to Mr. John Kirby, who offered to help setup a White House tour if we were ever in Washington DC. Looks like that's where we are going when we close the restaurant during the first week of July this year. The bonus will be seeing the fireworks over DC.
Emerson's favorite part was looking out the back door as they moved the Presidential Limo (The Beast) around for departure.
In October, 2018, our family purchased Juliano's from the original owners who had operated it since 1985.
In February 2019, we started Simple Palate, and had our Grand Opening on April 1, 2019.
My wife Carol and I, along with our daughter Aubrey, son-in-law Deven, and grandsons, Emerson and Everett, would like to welcome you to our new restaurant.

From 16 to the final 2 contestants for our housemade Mac & Cheese with choice of chicken, shrimp, blackened or lobster. We, the youngest (2yrs) restaurant competing against the oldest (15yrs). With only 800 social media followers versus our opponent's +10,000, we still had 42% of final votes. Its a huge WIN for us.
