Simple Palate Banquets

At Simple Palate, we can accommodate your gathering from 15 to 150 guests, with white linen tablecloths and napkins, as well as Service Options including Buffet, Family Style, or Plated Dinner Service.   For groups under 25, off-menu is also available.

Our rooms

 We can accommodate from 15 to 150 guests with our two private rooms, main dining room, and bar-side seating. 


The 2 banquet rooms each can accommodate up to 48 guests.


There is a movable partition between the rooms.  When the partition is open, the rooms can accommodate 96.


Our main dining room is adjacent to the front banquet room.  When used for banquets, the main dining room can accommodate 54 guests, and if combined with the other banquet rooms, gives us the ability to offer events up to 150 guests.


We have a smaller area on the bar side, which can also be used for gatherings of up to 30 guests.

Room availability and setup

Call the restaurant (586)754-8383 to check availability for your group.


Rooms can be arranged with round or 8 foot banquet tables.  We can also set up a gift or desert table upon request.


Banquets are normally scheduled for 4 hours, with guests arriving 30-60 minutes before food service begins.  You will have access to your room 30 minutes before guests arrive for setting up centerpieces or other decorations (details below).


Guest Count

Each private banquet room can accommodate up to 48 guests (96 if divider is opened). 

The adjacent Main Dining Room can also accommodate up to 54 guests.


Weekends (F/S/S)  and Holidays there is a 30 guest minimum for each private banquet room (60 if  combined).   Weekdays and non-holidays, the minimum is 20 guests for a single room, or 60 for the combined room).  


An estimated guest count is required at booking, with a final count due 48 hours before the banquet.  Please include in your guest count all children attending.  Children under 5 eat free and therefore, are not included in banquet guest minimum.    Simple Palate will prepare food and schedule staff based on this final number.  


If the actual guest count increases on the day of the banquet, Simple Palate will make our best effort to feed all the guests in attendance, however, the  food options may be different than what was ordered in advance.  In addition, if the actual guest count exceeds the capacity of the room, some of the guests will be seated elsewhere in the restaurant to adhere to Fire Marshal guidelines.  The final bill will reflect the actual number of guests in attendance.


If the actual guest count decreases on the day of the banquet, the final bill will reflect the final count provided 48 hours in advance.  We regret that Health Department regulation prevent us from boxing up carry-outs from the buffet line.

Deposit

A $100 deposit (per room) is required to hold the date for your event.  The deposit is non-refundable, and cannot be transferred to another date within 30 days your event.  The deposit can be paid in cash or check and will be applied to your final bill on the day of the event.   

Decorations and Desserts

You are welcome to add decorations to tables and chairs to enhance your event.    Decorating walls, ceilings, and floors is prohibited,  as well as the use of  confetti, hay, or other small pieces of material,  and will result in an additional cleaning/damage fee being added to the final bill.    

 

Simple Palate offers several dessert options for your banquet, but we also understand that some events require a specialty cake, or grandma insists on bringing her cupcakes.  


Please discuss your needs at the time of booking if you want to request bringing outside dessert items into your event.  Plating and service of outside dessert items is the sole responsibility of the customer.


Room Fee, Gratuity, Sales Tax, and Final Payment

In addition to the per-person food/bar costs, Simple Palate charges an 18% room fee for use of the linens and the private room(s).  This is standard among the similar banquet facilities in our area.  


As always, there will be Michigan Sales Tax of 6%.  Gratuity is at your discretion based on the service you were provided from your staff.


Final payment is due at the conclusion of your banquet.  We accept cash, or your organization/business check.  Credit/Debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) are accepted but will incur a 3% transaction fee.
